Ruben, more than just a sandwich.

Thats right ladies and gentelmen, this was the agenda of Ruben Gallego of the Arizona 7th District. A feat which he accomplished with no small margin either. He steamrolled the competition in the most awesome display of badassery that has ever graced these United States.

Ruben Gallego was the incumbent in the 2016 house elections, as he faced off against Republican Eve Nunez. He won an astonishing victory of 75.6% to Nunez's 24.4%. Meaning that 3/4 of the citizens in the 7th district cast their vote for Ruben
Gallego.https://ballotpedia.org/Arizona%27s_7th_Congressional_District_election,_2016

Why does this matter you ask? Well to make my point clearer, lets look at the 2014 district election. In the 2014 house election, Ruben Gallego won with 74.9% of the vote while the remaining 25.1% was spread amongst 5 other candidates. How badass was that?https://ballotpedia.org/Arizona%27s_7th_Congressional_District_election,_2016

The information on the last two primaries indicates that Ruben Gallego has actually EXPANDED his lead over other parties and candidates. This could be due to the fact that he has only missed 40 of the 1,424 votes on bills that have been proposed and voted on in his term. Meaning that he misses 2.8% of votes. This is on par with the national average of 2.1. Another reason for his re-election could be because of his support for more lenient immigration laws.
https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/ruben_gallego/412612

Ruben sponsors two main issue areas in the House:
1.) Armed Forces and National Security (No doubt due to his former service in the Marine Corps.)
          2.) Crime and Law Enforcement

Due to the information presented above, my hypothesis is that Ruben will win by a margin of 76.3% to 23.7% for whomever decides to step up and challenge Ruben Gallego again. Therefore, I hypothesize that Ruben is safe for another election.

Ruben Gallego, the re-election machine

Ruben Gallego relates very well to the points that Mayhew makes in his books, because Mayhew talks about how members of Congress are single minded seekers of re-election. As shown in the T.V. commercial above that aired in 2014, Gallego kills two birds with one stone by using Mayhew's ideas of Advertising AND Position Taking.

Advertising (according to Mayhew) is the idea of spreading your face out to the people so you can become the most recognizable while maintaining a clean reputation and favorable brand. This is very noticeable in the middle of the above add when he talks about the immense poverty that he had to endure as a child while then going on to serve in the United States Marine Corps. This makes him look much tougher, diligent, and trustworthy in the eyes of his constituents. This would pave the way for his next re-election, should he decide to run for another term.

Position Taking (again according to Mayhew) is taking a stand on an issue that is central to your constituency that will connect the member of congress to their constituents. Gallego uses this by telling about his views on such things as Immigration Reform, Gun laws, and expanding Medicaid in Arizona. he says these things so that he can better connect with his constituency (most importantly his Re-election constituency) so that he can prove to his people that he is their voice in congress (which hopefully leads to his re-election). Again, this is a helpful strategy that would lead Gallego to yet another term in the House.

One thing that Gallego does not touch up on in this video is his Credit Claiming in the House. Credit Claiming is when a member of Congress goes out and convinces his constituency that he is one of the driving forces behind a piece of legislature in congress (such as bill sponsorship). In Ruben Gallego's instance, he has sponsored bills specifically under Gun Control and Veterans Affairs the most. He has also sponsored various zoning laws that would benefit his constituency such as a new post office and new plane routes for the FAA to follow so his constituency is not affected by the noise of planes constantly taking off and landing.

Other bits of information would be that he has an Instagram account (871 followers), a twitter account (14.3k followers), and a Facebook account (9.7k followers). He spent $15,000 in 2016 on travel back to his home state. Gallego also spent approximately $53,387 on franked mail in 2016. Over all for his personal compensation, Gallego paid over $401k to himself in 2016.

Wow!! The Arizona 7th is starting to look like the regular American Dream! Can you say Picket Fence? Because we certainly can!

Phoenix isn't the birthplace of any big cooperation's, but we have plenty of Walmarts!! Fat guys in wife beaters in the freezer section? Why thats a quarter of our population right there!

But if that hasn't convinced you to fall in love with the Arizona Fighting 7th, then perhaps we could mention to you that the lovely Arizona 7th is solidly democratic. As a matter of fact, in the recent 2016 presidential election, over 71% of the 7th district voted for Hillary Clinton

So what better district to live in? What better place to be? When you come to the Arizona 7th, you will feel right at home. The Arizona 7th district, the most BADASS district in the U.S.A.
